How to create a MySQL user
This documentation assumes that you're already logged into cPanel and on the home screen of your cPanel account.
- Find the icon with the text MySQL Databases. This will be under the Databases section. Click the icon.
- Scroll down until you see MySQL Users.
- In the Username field, type in the name of your MySQL user.
- In the Password field, type in a strong password for your MySQL user.
- In the Password (Again) field, retype your password.
- Click Create a User.
- Your MySQL user has been created, click Go Back to be taken back to the previous page.
Your MySQL user is ready to be attached to a database. You can verify your MySQL user was created under the section Current Users.
Security Tips
- It's advisable to generate a random password for your MySQL user.
- A random username would reduce the risk of your database being discovered.
